MADE HERE MN PROJECT

MADE HERE MN, A PROJECT OF THE HENNEPIN THEATER TRUST, IS A WALKABLE ART EXPERIENCE THAT CONNECTS PEOPLE TO LOCAL ART IN DOWNTOWN MINNEAPOLIS BY TEMPORARILY FILLING EMPTY STOREFRONTS/SPACES WITH THE WORK OF MINNESOTA ARTISTS.

ARTISTS: DAVID MAXWELL x SERENE SUPREME

TITLE: CRYING CLOUDS

LOCATION: 930 HENNEPIN AVENUE, MINNEAPOLIS

THEME: THE FUTURE

ON DISPLAY: MAY 4 – AUGUST 30, 2017

THE CONVENIENCE OF THE DIGITAL WORLD LEAD PEOPLE TO ISOLATE THEMSELVES FROM ONE ANOTHER. OUR PIECE EVOKES THE BARRIERS – PHYSICAL, VIRTUAL AND PERCEIVED – THAT ISOLATION CREATES. THE PLASTIC BAGS INSULATING EACH IMAGE REPRESENT THE BARRIERS THAT SEPARATE US FROM THE CONTENT WE CONSUME. THOUGH WE MIGHT NOT REALIZE IT, ISOLATION CAN CHANGE OUR PERCEPTION OF THE WORLD. THIS IDEA IS REPRESENTED BY THE INVERTED IMAGE OF THE “WORLD” THE VIEWER SEES.
